MAGNET II Final Meeting

The MAGNET II project came to a close with its final meeting in Brussels. The gathering, hosted by IOM on 17 March 2016, brought together government officials from the KRI and the project’s six participating European countries: Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Representatives from the European Commission (DG Migration and Home Affairs) and Switzerland also participated in the meeting. read more

IOM facilitated a study visit this week for government officials from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA) and the Bureau of Migration and Displacement (BMD) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) to France, Belgium and the Netherlands. read more

Erbil Job and Training Fair

IOM this week (28/10) hosted a job and training fair for Iraqi nationals returning voluntarily to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) from Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The event was held in Erbil, organized under the framework of IOM’s MAGNET II Project. read more

REAB Meeting in Brussels - MAGNET II presentation

Every 6 months, IOM Brussels organizes, in close cooperation with Fedasil, a meeting to inform all partners involved in assisted voluntary return, of ongoing projects as well as of operational aspects related to the voluntary return and reintegration programme (REAB). This year’s first partner meeting took place on the 24th of June 2015 and focused explicitly on Country Specific Reintegration Projects, such as the MAGNET II approach. read more

MAGNET II mid-term meeting was held on 22 May 2015, in Nuremberg, Germany. This meeting was an opportunity for governmental counterparts and IOM missions involved in the project to share their experience and collaborate to better reach MAGNET II objectives. read more

Follow the story of Kovan Shaban, 25, who returned to Dahuk after four years in Belgium, as IOM accompanies him in his search for employment. Through the MAGNET project Kovan is counseled, assisted in writing his CV, guided towards potential employers and ultimately employed in a job that suits him.

Returning home after living abroad is not an easy decision to make. For most returnees it means a new start. Their needs are enormous and their reintegration back is not easy. This film will show the stories of three voluntary returnees who have benefited from IOM voluntary return and reintegration assistance.
